Team inniAccounts taking the Derby 10k challenge

This April the early birds in our team put on their trainers and inniAccounts t-shirts for a 10k run around Derby. We once again took part in the annual city event organised by the local charity Sporting Futures.

The race started in the city stadium, home of the Derby County football club and followed a path around the city centre where crowds of spectators cheered on the inniAccounts team.

Matt and Paul at the startOur camera fans spotted Matt, Paul and the rest of the team at the start. Running alongside over 6,000 athletic professionals, club members and amateurs proved to be stimulating. Overtaking runners one at a time proved a good strategy to save a bit of energy for the final few kilometers and to slash a few seconds off the total team time. Amongst all the pros, team inniAccounts finished in the top 50% fastest runners.

A rivalry of departments – who runs faster?

Crossing the finish line in the iPro Stadium was a rewarding experience. Rowena and Andy reached the finish point first with a difference of one minute. The battle of accountants vs. developers wasn’t over.

Chris and Greg at the 10k Greg and Chris teamed up for mutual support. Their synched pace allowed them to share the glory with equal timing of just over an hour, but were they fast enough? Powered by her playlist, Stela in the dark blue t-shirt below flew past them and achieved a new personal best.

A tough muddy race and a tough muddy dog walk the day before were among the training routines for the rest of the team. Energised by the cheering crowd Matt, James and Paul followed shortly afterwards, completing this year’s team challenge successfully.

Derby 10k: mission accomplished

Stela at the Derby 10k The end of the race meant is was time for a well deserved cuppa and a sports massage! After hot drinks and a champion photo shoot some of the team were lucky enough to get professional massage treatment – a relief from the lasting muscle pain for the rest of the week.
