Client Account Manager / AAT Trainee

Kickstart your accountancy career at our award-winning accountancy practice.

Here at inniAccounts, we’re looking for a Client Account Manager / AAT trainee to join our brilliant accountancy practice. In this role, you’ll be responsible for a portfolio of clients and helping them day-to-day. You’ll be on hand to assist them with their questions as well as complete a variety of activities to ensure their businesses run smoothly.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing day to day support to your clients, via phone and email
  • Answering questions and helping your clients use our online accounting app
  • Bookkeeping, checking and filing VAT returns
  • Incorporating companies and registering them for VAT and PAYE
  • Ensuring all client deadlines are met

If you don’t have any previous experience, please don’t worry. This is an entry level position, which means we’ll train you, and your teammates will be there to support you.

It’s an ideal position for someone early on, or thinking about a career in accountancy. Most of our account managers are studying for their AAT accountancy qualification. We’re an AAT certified employer and we provide full support (and funding) for training. We’ll pair you up with one of our senior accountants, so you have a mentor supporting you with your studies and development.

Whilst you don’t need any experience, there are skills that are essential in this role. You’ll need to be courteous, confident, and professional when communicating with clients over the phone and via email. Of course, good numeracy skills are required. You must be a self-starter and dependable as you’ll be responsible for managing your own workload and deadlines. It’s also important that you take pride in getting tasks right, first time.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to train towards being a fully qualified accountant or someone who wants a career in client service. We’re big on internal development: many of our team who began in this role are still here and have progressed to become team leaders and accountants, so there’s a lot of room for advancement.

Why work at Inni?

We’re leading exciting changes in the accountancy profession through tech. We have our own team of software engineers and build our own accounting app. We use tech to make sure accountants can focus on delivering high quality advice, not wasting time on admin. We’re also pioneering in social media – we’re currently busy producing a TV show for our rapidly growing social media audiences.

We’ve been awarded the Practice Excellence Pioneer Award, named the Independent Firm of the Year at the British Accountancy Awards and won the Queen’s Award for Innovation.

There’s a family-feel to the company, with a high degree of trust. You won’t have managers peering over your shoulder. Instead, you’ll find a supportive and ambitious team, who work together to help each other and deliver on our goals. We’re proud of doing “good business” – be that for our team, our clients, or the sectors we work in.

Brilliant benefits

We’re true believers in you being accountable for your own productivity, which includes where you want to work (at home or in the office), and flexibility on your hours. Given this is an entry-level position, it’s likely you’ll want to spend most of your time in the office to maximise your learning.

You can cycle to our office thanks to our cycle to work scheme (it’s a 9 minute ride to the train station). It’s a short walk to Derby city centre to catch a bus, or if you drive there’s free parking on-site and nearby. Our offices are in a characterful Victorian railway building and we provide free healthy snacks, good coffee and there’s a relaxed dress code.

As well as your salary, we have an annual profit sharing scheme. You’ll get your birthday off, and you also get additional holidays for long service. Plus, when life gives you lemons, we try to help too. You’ll get paid sick pay, excellent private health insurance, a confidential employee assistance helpline and a supportive team.

Finally, we have an active company-funded social calendar: expect Christmas parties, summer BBQs, and 10k runs to burn off our bake-offs and fast-food Fridays (running optional).
